Winter Wednesdays Vol. 3

by Liz Heather in Winter Wednesdays

It’s January 7th and I’m still trying to arrange my resolution thoughts. I don’t have a firm plan, but there are loose things that I want to move towards such as:

  • I’d really like to do one big international trip this year.

  • I want to try more foods that I’ve never eaten before.

  • If I don’t want to do something, I’d love to not say a white lie to get out of it.

  • Be like Epstein and take way more photos with my friends.

And for good measure, here are some things that have been past resolutions that are just fully integrated into daily life now and I’m so glad they’re apart of who I am.

  • Making iced coffee at home. It’s insane how much you save when you have a somewhat-strict policy of “do I have coffee in my fridge right now?”

  • Cutting people from the birthday card list. This sounds harsh, but it’s not meant to. It really just means don’t hold onto relationships that are one-sided.

  • Once a season, go to Central Park. It’s forever wild to me that New Yorkers don’t do this way more.

  • Read at least one book each season. This seems like a low threshold, but it really works for me.

I also recapped my full December over here.

BAKING/COOKING

I made a strata for the first time (I’d never even heard of one before that scene when Sarah Jessica Parker preps one in The Family Stone) and I think it turned out great. It’s basically just a savory overnight french toast (I did it with sausage and mushrooms) and it’s perfect for brunch at home if you’re having people over.
