Aveda Hand Relief Lotion

If you've ever kept hand cream in your purse, this is the one to buy. The main reasons?

  1. It doesn't make your hands feel oily.
  2. You only need to use a tiny drop of it each time you use it, so it lasts forever.
  3. There is no smell. Absolutely no flowery shit here. Just a normal, nothing kind of smell.

Is $10 too expensive for a 1.4 ounce bottle? I don't think it is. Especially considering the fact that cheaper brands last barely a month and feel oily as hell.

Also, are you lotioning your hands right? I feel like you may not be. What I like to do is put a tiny drop on the top of each hand and then rub that in. Why do people always put the cream in their palms first? That makes no sense to me - your palms are not dry and never will be. You should be taking care of that wintery, withered, constantly-exposed hand skin, damnit.

Vaseline Spray & Go Moisturizer

I'm not really the type of person who needs to lotion up in a hurry, but apparently those people exist, so I'd imagine that's who this product is aimed at. But onto the bigger question: is this spray lotion any good? Um, bigtime.

Best part about it? How easily it lets you lotion up your back. That's the most irritating spot to reach when it comes to applying anything, so that's my favourite part about using this stuff. Not sure why they wouldn't mention that in the advertising - I feel like they'd entice a lot more people into trying it out if they knew that it works best on hard-to-reach areas.

Worst part about this lotion? The price ranges from $5 to $11, depending on where you buy it (which makes no sense to me).

If this stuff manages to stay around for longer than a few months, then I'll probably buy another bottle when my current one runs out. Pretty neat idea.

Trader Joe's Coconut Body Butter

If I were a celebrity, I’m pretty sure the only thing I would endorse is body butter. We all benefit from body butter. It is cream’s cooler, older brother. If you haven’t tried it, I'd encourage you to give it a whirl.

While I am a fan of the specialty stores that sell it (mainly The Body Shop), I am not a fan of their ridiculous prices. An eight ounce container can go for north of $20. For one container. And in the past, I would pay that! I foolishly thought that was the only way. NO MORE!

This Trader Joe’s body butter is definitely as good, if not better, than anything at The Body Shop. And it’s eons cheaper. And it also doesn’t leave that oily residue that I’ve experienced with other, more expensive butters.

Seriously, give it a go. And just as a sidenote: it’s way more fun to say I’m “buttering myself up” as opposed to “lotioning myself up,” just rolls off the tongue easier.

It’s $12 on Amazon. And it’s $5 at Trader Joe’s.
