Can't stop listening.
Michael Bolton in Concert
You're not a fan, you say? Well, get outta this blog, bud. Lotta bolt talk ahead.
I saw this fine man perform this week in Mississauga and if you ever get a chance to see him - GO. He, of course, plays the big hits - but even the songs he does "off his new album" are still covers of other songs from the past, so it's a win-win situation. The only thing I didn't enjoy was the fact that he has two women who come out and do duets with him at various times. And then when he leaves for an outfit change (of which there are three), one of the women would come out and sing a snippet from one of HIS songs! What the hell?! I paid to hear HIM sing it, not you, bitch! Anyway, hated that. But him? He's a gem. A real national treasure. Also, THIS reggae version is too fantastic not to pass on.
The two remaining tour dates he has lined up are in Snoqualmie, WA on June 15th and in Peachtree City, GA on July 26th and you can find information on them here.
Jose Gonzalez - Stay Alive
I can't believe I didn't notice how good this song was when it played during the credits of The Secret Life of Walter Mitty. Thankfully my brother Robbie mentioned how great it was, otherwise where would I be? WHERE WOULD I BE WITHOUT THIS SONG? So nice.
My Life - Iris DeMent
I really only listen to this song in three instances:
- When I want to induce sadness and tears.
- When I'm missing my mom in Canada.
- When I'm miss Wednesday nights with my brother watching Dawson's Creek on The WB.
Ed Helms' Goodbye on The Office
Okay, I realize I'm talking about an episode of a show that aired ten months ago, I REALIZE THIS. I'm bringing it up now, though, because I have continuously thought about this one particular moment from it off and on for the past ten months (which is definitely abnormal, but still shareable information).
If you have Netflix, please just watch it on there. The quality is better and possibly more tear-inducing? The moment I'm referring to is from season nine of the American version of The Office, episode twenty-one ('Livin' The Dream') at thirty-three minutes into the episode. Even if you've never seen the show or even liked it or had ANY opinion on any sitcom ever made in the history of television - if this rendition of this song doesn't move you... I'm afraid you're dead inside. And I feel intense sorrow for you not being able to experience just how crazy nice this performance is. Even sober, I get teary just listening to it. Is it his voice? Is it the McLach? I DON'T KNOW. And I don't want to know. Beauty like this doesn't need to have an explanation.
If you don't have Netflix, I've attached it below (this version is actually pretty sweet) for you to see. Ed Helms, your voice is nuts and I want to marry you just so you'll sing to me at our wedding.
Everything Is Awesome
I'm hoping it isn't abnormal how quickly I loved this song after hearing it only one time. I realize how terrible it is - I really do, it's only the chorus I can't stop loving.
Neon Lights - Demi Lovato
Can’t stop, won’t stop listening to this mountain of a song.
Dirty Paws - Of Monsters and Men
Can't stop listening to this. Love it when trailers turn me onto songs like this.
Auld Lang Syne
This song will forever make me teary. I don't know why. I want to say because it's so beautiful. It's definitely been on some of my breakup playlists over the years, just to help induce any sadness. Just love it.
Silver & Gold by Burl Ives
Love the hell out of this song.
