“Never buy strawberries from the grocery store. Did everyone know this except me? They, of course, taste eons better when bought from a fruit stand.”
Colour Coordination for Kids
Is this not a genius idea? I can't really decide whether it's bordering on being either too controlling or just AMAZINGLY ORGANIZED. Your call. If children are ever in my future, this idea has to happen. Such a good idea (of course it's Martha's), I love it so much.
Chihuahua Dancing Flamenco
Look, sometimes things like this must be posted. I watch this... maybe five times a month? Sometimes you just need an afternoon smile. Look at this guy! LOOK!
Mom Says
Juliana's
As you know, I've already been to Grimaldi's. How did Juliana's (which is located right next door) compare? Well, bubs - it was EONS better and easily one of the best pizza places in New York.
Why's it so good?
- The pepperoni is tiny and thick cut (ie. GOOD pepperoni)
- Service was great and fast as hell
- Wait time wasn't ludicrous
If you don't know the story behind Juliana's and Grimaldi's, well, it's a long one. But this article sums it up pretty well. And I don't care what the tourist guidebooks tell you, this place is ridiculously better than Grimaldi's next door. Go. Eat.
“Make yourself so happy so that when others look at you they become happy, too.”
How to Talk to Little Girls
Everything about this article is great. And if you have any nieces or young daughters in your life, I think you'll especially understand why this is so important. (Thanks to Christina Brinco for sharing it!)
Scarf Weather
You may not agree with me when I say that it's perfect scarf weather right now, but hear me out. If you're trying to wean off of wearing your winter coat completely, the perfect way to go about that is to stop wearing it altogether and start wearing scarves instead before you need to pack all of those things away until next winter.
I've been doing it for about a week and it's worked out great. Especially because I don't need a coat in the morning since it's starting to get warm, but if I'm still out in the evening when it starts to get brisk - I've got my scarf in the bag ready to go. Or you could be an extremely well-put together adult and buy a spring jacket. I happen to like my suggestion more.
Necessary Clothing in NYC
Before I begin, let me give you a brief rundown on the history of my clothing store opinions (with specific reasoning in brackets):
Stores I Have Outgrown
- H&M (The quality has become so shitty over the years. Remember when they started out and we were all so excited at how good it was? Everything was so much better then!)
- The Gap (Absolutely all of their pants fit weird. And the presence of pastel blazers? RAMPANT.)
- Forever 21 (I no longer wish to forever be 21.)
Stores I Should Like, But Can't Get On Board With
- Top Shop (Too expensive and also, nothing seems wearable.)
- Zara (Too bland and reminds me of a store that hip grandmas should really be into.)
- Aritzia (Are you kidding with how expensive your dresses are? Man. I get it, it's soft. Softness ain't worth $100+. You used to be decent with your prices, what the hell happened?)
Anyway, if you're a woman who's in New York between the ages of 13 and dead - you should stop by this clothing store, Necessary Clothing. If you have ANY of the same opinions as I do (see above) on any of those stores, then this place might just be what you're looking for. It's crazy affordable, with some especially cheaper items, but alongside some pricier, nicer-quality pieces, too.
There are literally three locations all within two blocks of one another in Soho. Why is this? No idea, man. It's weird. But women seem to love this store, and with good reason. I've been going for years and I love it. You can get stuff from their online store as well.
Billy Eichner on Parks & Recreation
This new character Craig on Parks and Recreation is EVERYTHING. All of his choices make me fucking howl.
