“I would set myself on fire if you ever complained that your feet were cold.”
Martha Stewart Bedding Collection
This is the autumn/winter bedspread I just bought for my bed from Macy's. I was going to show you a picture of how it looks on my bed, but I'm not sure I'd want you to see my bed since beds are so terribly personal. Instead here's what the gorgeous print looks like up close.
It's a flannel duvet cover that was on sale for $70 that apparently I couldn't live without. And honestly, after having slept in it the past few days, it's one of my favourite things in this house now. It's more comfortable than anything I've ever slept in, it's weird - I feel like it's almost a hotel bed.
I'm not a fan of how duvets feel (and I don't own one), so instead I bought this flannel duvet cover so that I could put my regular old comforter inside. That way I have a beautiful, warm new cover, but with the comfort of my old, I'm-sick-of-its-pattern comforter inside hiding. I swear to God it works just as well as with any duvet. I hate even writing "duvet" - such a stupid word. Almost like it knows it's expensive.
Anyhow, if you don't have a duvet or don't like them, then please try out this idea. Duvet covers can be costly, but if you look hard enough you can find a great one (or even better, a flannel one) for between $60 - $80.
Dog Showering
I swear to God, this is exactly how I take showers. Gotta enjoy every drop, man.

Spa Castle in Manhattan
Remember how into Spa Castle I am? Well, there's a new Manhattan one opening in November that looks AMAZING. LOOK!
HIghlights
- This location will ban kids under the age of 16. This is really the only notable fact that's different from the Queens location.
- Pre-sale tickets are going for $50 each right now (they're normally gonna be $65)
- The website says there's an Aqua Bar, in which patrons can "swim up and treat yourself to a refreshing drink or delicious cocktail, while never having to leave the pool."
The space'll be three floors, located at 115 East 57th Street. Can't wait to check it out.
Advice From Grade Eight Liz
In grade eight, my teacher Mr. Morais asked us to write some advice for the people of the future. It was a vague project, but I was so excited to do it that I wrote mine at lunch and handed it in before the end of the day. He liked it, read it aloud to the class and forever gave me the gall to think that my advice to anyone was worthy. Here is that list. (Obviously, this is riddled with clichés and some of it is embarrassing to share, but there are some points that I still strongly believe in.)
Derek Jeter's Final Home Game
I am not a Yankees fan, but this was a fantastic game and easily one of the best nights I've ever experienced in New York City. I could tell you the specifics of the game or you could just watch the highlights here or read about it here if you didn't see it.
Not only was it an especially cinematic game, but the vibe in the stadium? I will absolutely never forget it. There will never be a way to express how insane this night felt. I can only imagine how hardcore Yankees fans felt about it. It was definitely the best baseball game I've ever been to.
The best parts?
Every time an Oriole hit a homerun, the fan who caught it would throw the ball back onto the field! The first time that happened, it was funny. But when it kept happening? Amazing.
The cleaners did the YMCA dance as they cleaned the diamond.
The guy that sat next to me proposed to his girlfriend.
Hearing that stadium blast Frank Sinatra's New York, New York when Jeter said goodbye on the field? I'm never gonna hear that song again and not think of that moment.
I will forever be thankful to my friend Bapi for offering me a ticket to this game. You're getting a gift, Bapi. I swear it's coming. I'm trying to think of something equally appropriate and great since you let me be apart of this crazy historic game. It was beyond kind of you to ask me to come, thank you so much.
TV Hangover at Videology
This place is probably the best thing about Brooklyn. It could be described as just a bar, but I think the more accurate label would be that it's a bar/screening room. You'll get a feel for the place just by looking at their calendar of events.
Once in awhile, they have a "TV Hangover" night where they show hours of a specific television show, with games and specials based on whatever show they're doing that night. I really wanted to go to this Lost one, but unfortunately my brother lives in another country and couldn't go with me.
Anyway, it's definitely better than just going to a plain old bar, so I'm telling you to check it out if you're ever looking for something a little bit more fun than a boring night out drinking.
Mom Says
Travel Jewelry Pouch
How have I never seen nor owned this beauty? I feel like it might have been only available to women of a certain class, but now some deviant at Pottery Barn snatched the idea from the higher ups and made it available to us simple folk for the completely (un)reasonable price of $80.
Don't get me wrong, I'm grateful. I'm definitely going to put it on my Christmas list. Look at it! It's gorgeous! And so practical! Can't wait to be a woman of a certain class.
