Toronto Taco Festival

by Liz Heather in Events, Food

i could write an essay on how much I love hard tacos. Infact, I just might.

The inaugural Taco Fest will take over 99 Sudbury in Toronto from June 17 to 19. The three-day event promises to feature some of Toronto's top taco purveyors - vendor names will be announced at a later day. As part of the taco festival there will also be a margarita and sangria bar, hot sauce tastings, nacho samplings, Mexican street corn, churros and live music.

Tickets go on sale May 2nd at 1 pm on the Taco Fest website.

St. Augustine, Florida

by Liz Heather in Travel

As you may recall, I like to vacation in Florida. And this year is no different!

Outside the Fountain of Youth

My friend Jenn and I recently returned from St. Augustine, which is "the nation's oldest permanently occupied European settlement, having been founded by the Spanish in 1565."

We choose it mainly because it seemed beautiful and neither of us had been before. We stayed at an Airbnb and had such a great time, here were the highlights:

  • Drinking from Ponce de Leon's Fountain of Youth
  • We had our best meal of the trip at Collage (but steer clear of the Blackfly, the sister restaurant, which was absolutely average, at best)
  • Ghost hunting on a train at night
  • Some of the best hard tacos I've ever had
  • Spending literally each day at our private pool

Does it seem like we didn't do very much? 'Cause we didn't. And it was amazing. It was such a great trip, I would definitely visit again someday.
