California artist Queenie Liao took this series of photos - entitled Wengenn in Wonderland - that show her baby boy on magical adventures when he is sleeping and dreaming. She used “plain cloths, sheets, scarves, stuffed animals, and other common household materials to create the background settings” for Wengenn’s dreams. Can't even tell you how much I love this. I think the trapeze one is my favourite. Click on the photo to see more.
Person To Follow - Mike Scully
Sometimes Follow Fridays (#ff) ) aren't enough. Sometimes you need full posts devoted to endorsing good people to follow on Twitter. And if you are on Twitter, you should definitely be following Mike Scully.
I first heard of him when he was the showrunner on The Simpsons and I listened to countless commentaries that he was apart of for the show. He's really funny and seemed crazy nice from those commentaries, so I added him and I'm so glad I did. Here are some of my favourites of his:
There's nothing sluttier than two thirteen-year-old girls at a carnival.

Had a fight with my wife then drove home together in an electric car. Talk about your quiet rides...

If I could kill one person in history, it would be that guy who yells "ONLY ON BRAVO!"

I never feel more powerful than when I withhold traffic tips from my local radio station.

WRITING TIP: Every movie should start with a close-up of an alarm clock going off and a hand clumsily trying to silence it.

Next to murder, the worst thing a human being can do is wave their arms slowly back and forth over their heads at a concert.

Attention Scriptwriters: the character of a 20-something girl who is "beautiful, but doesn't know it" does not exist in the real world.

American women's self-esteem has gotten so high they no longer seem to know which one of them is the ugly friend.

A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving
Not the best Charlie Brown special (obviously), but still all right. Also, if you have any nieces or nephews or know any small kids then make them watch this. It brings me down to think that kids today wouldn't watch these specials.
Happy Thanksgiving, Canada!
Best Missed Connection
This is all great. Really hope he contacts her.
Hocus Pocus
All of my Octobers include this movie. I first saw it in theatres when I was eight. I went with my brothers and some church friends (we had church friends when we were kids) and I cried my eyes out at the end and they all laughed and pointed at me (yeah, even the church kids). It was the first time that a movie made me cry and I'll never forget that. I didn't care that much about all of them laughing at me, 'cause I was more struck by the thought of, "Why aren't these mutants WITH me crying right now? Probably 'cause they're teenagers and their souls are dead."
Anyhow, this movie is great. It will always be great. And I swear this will be the only Buzzfeed "article" that I tell you to go read, but if you've ever liked this movie then go read this. I love everything about that list.
This gem is only $7 on Amazon. Get on it.
The Most Astounding Fact
"Astrophysicist Dr. Neil DeGrasse Tyson was asked in an interview with TIME magazine, "What is the most astounding fact you can share with us about the Universe?" This is his answer."
This is kind of an old video, but it still gives me shivers when I watch it.
Louis C.K. - Cell Phones
Love this so much. Just great.
Obesity/World Hunger
Just great.
Unusual Articles on Wikipedia
Have you heard of this already? I was told about it years ago by my friend Andrew, who only said, "Just go here. Spend a day."
It's a listing of basically the weirdest/most-interesting-stuff-you've-never-heard-of-but-would-likely-be-intrigued-by on Wikipedia. There are a lot of sub sections, but the ones I enjoyed the most were probably:
- Technology, inventions and products
- Popular culture, entertainment and the arts
- Food
- Folklore
- Law, law enforcement and crime
And some favourites?
- Acoustic Kitty: A failed CIA experiment at using a cat for covert surveillance.
- Clocky: An alarm clock that hides from its owner (!)
- Capgras delusion: a disorder in which a person holds a delusion that a friend, spouse, parent, or other close family member has been replaced by an identical-looking impostor.
- Mary Toft: An English woman who hoaxed doctors into believing that she had given birth to rabbits.
Honestly, I still haven't gone over the whole document because there's just so much. So I have it bookmarked and go every once in awhile. Go here to see what I'm talking about.
