"Unlikely animal friends” is probably my top Google search of life.
Plant Nanny
“Plant Nanny combines health with fun to remind you to drink water regularly. The cute plant keeps you company every day by living in your phone.”
Does it seem foolish that a grown adult would need hourly reminders to drink more water? To some, maybe. To me? Not at all! I am forever being told that the secret to beautiful skin is drinking your body weight in water each day. (Are men told this too? Or is it just women who are constantly expected to worry that, oh fuck, the wrinkles & fine lines are COMING FOR YOU IF YOU DON'T START PREPARING NOW.)
That being said, I do need to drink more water. Not because I'm deathly afraid of becoming some sort of trollish, water-hating ogre, but because drinking water is so easy to do. It's, like, the easiest possible thing you can do to even be 1% better at taking care of yourself. I mean, it's everywhere and it's free. It's almost ridiculous not to be drinking lots of water at this point.
And the absolute cutest reminder of doing such? This app. You type in your body weight, your level of daily activity - and then it lets you know exactly how much water you should be drinking daily. And for every cup you drink, that water feeds a growing plant. Simple, right? It's honestly cute as hell.

Etsy Opens First Shop
Etsy's first store opened recently in the basement of Macy's in Herald Square, and its theme will be refreshed every two months. Why would anyone have thought this was a good idea? Yeah, I don't know. Isn't Etsy known for being completely unassociated with anything currently in a retail space? Isn't that why people like it? Why would it ever need an actual storefront?
Is it just me or is this like having an actual eBay storefront? What's the point? It seems like such a weird, dumb idea. I know Macy's is struggling - and with ideas like this one, I can see why.
The People Who Pick The Oscar Nominations
I love this so much.
Gas Buddy
I think it's safe to say that we could all be saving a little bit more money, no? And if you have a car, this site is amazing for finding the cheapest gas station in your area when you type in your postal code / zipcode. Such a great idea.
