Made me laugh.
Grimaldi's
Everyone has really specific opinions about good pizza in New York. I do have my own favourite place, but that's mostly because any place that has thick-cut pepperoni will always win my heart. Anyway, I finally went to Zagat's number one rated pizzeria over the weekend.
Why does Grimaldi's suck? Lots of reasons.
- The pizza itself? Fucking average at best.
- The wait time is long (and that would be fine if the pizza had the ability to blow your face off, but is does not). And the line is outdoors (which would be hell in the winter).
- The servers don't give any kind of fucks.
- No liquor license. (In this day and age? Nope. Fuck off.)
Please do not waste your time and go here. Don't do it. I've heard way better things about Juliana's pizza (which is right next door, and is run by the original people behind Grimaldi's), so I'll make sure to try the pizza over there next time. Zagat's can eat it.
I still maintain that the best pizza in New York is at Patsy's (as well as Angelo's, different restaurants, owned by the same people, with the same menu). So if you're really looking for something good, then just go to either of those places. They don't look like much from the outside, but I've never taken someone there who's been disappointed.

Breaking Bad Cupcakes
Come Sunday, I will be making these cupcakes. Crushed up bits of Jolly Rancher candies are used as the meth in this recipe - and honestly, that makes me a little nervous (aren't Jolly Ranchers, like, the hardest of all hard candy? How is that tasty?), so I might substitute those with crushed up blue M&Ms or blue sprinkles or even blue cotton candy. Nevertheless, such a good idea for a treat during the series finale. What else could you indulge in? Maybe some Dimple Pinch, if you're hardcore.
Anyway, just a few ideas to spice up the finale. The show's been great and obviously it'll be missed. Also, did you happen to see RJ Mitte being a babe last month? Yikes. I'm pretty into it.
Full Eyebrows
This is the Anastasia Perfect Brow Pencil that I use daily. Now listen to me, I do not use it to draw on some eyebrows. I use it to fill in the eyebrow area (not the entire area, but more of a dusting over the areas that are sparse) and to create the look of a normal human being who has effortless eyebrows. (Though it could be a myth, that anyone on earth has effortless eyebrows... usually everyone could use a bit of darkening in that area.) If I had to use one makeup item for the rest of my life, it would definitely be this one. They come in different colours and the best one to choose is, obviously, the one closest to your own hair colour.
Some people use it to give themselves more of an arch in their brow, but I primarily use it because when I was 13 I shaved off half my brows (also known as the eyebrow incident of '98) and they never grew back as full as they once, beautifully, were. To this day, my main piece of advice to my 14 year old niece is constantly, "Whatever you do, don't touch your eyebrows yet. You'll regret it later. Just wait a bit." (Well, that and incessantly telling her to lotion her elbows every day so they'll be soft for life.)
Just to prove my point further, here are before and after shots of me not using and then using this brow pencil. (Please excuse the ridiculous eyelashes. I love them. Bury me in them, please.)
Before
After
They're a little pricey for a pencil ($23 at Sephora), but considering that it'll last you for at least about seven months or so? Definitely worth it.
Also, this is kind of an embarrassing post. You know? To admit you use this product? But I realized that's a dumb thing to be embarrassed about. (Anytime I use fake eyelashes or fill in my eyebrows I think of that scene on Fresh Prince where Will gets locked in a room with that girl (Gina!) who has the fake hair and fake nails. Love that scene so much.)
This is the updated version of the pencil - still the same product, just a new black design and box.
Mom Says
Anna Gunn - NY Times Article
This article is a few weeks old, but still relevant - especially as the series comes to a close on Sunday.
It's basically about the reaction and treatment of her, very fictional, character Skyler White. Definitely a good read, whether you watch the show or not.
“How beautiful the leaves grow old. How full of light and color are their last days.”
Conan Breaking Bad Episode
Conan had a full Breaking Bad episode on Monday and you can watch the whole episode here.
Baby Shower Cap
If you type that phrase into Google, you can find a bunch of places where you can purchase this little hat. I'm really only posting it here for two reasons:
- This is actually a crazy practical and great idea.
- Look at that baby's face. Ridiculously sweet and semi... contemplative. And a baby with that expression gets posted. Always.
